About the Filmmaker

Peter Hoffman Kimball

Peter Kimball is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and academic. As a director, his short films have played at festivals like Slamdance, Vancouver, Calgary, DC Shorts, LA Shorts, and dozens more around the world. In 2022, his film "My Brother is Deaf" - about his own family - premiered at Slamdance and won such awards as Best Short Documentary at the DC Independent Film Festival. He wrote and directed the groundbreaking 2022 film "Millstone" - based on his own award-winning play - featuring an all-Deaf cast and entirely in American Sign Language. He is a veteran of the Los Angeles improv and sketch comedy scene and works regularly in comedy, dramatic fiction, and documentary. Born in Chicago, raised in Boston, and educated in Providence, he is now based in Washington, DC. He is the husband of an ER doctor, the father of four children, and the beleaguered roommate of an obstinate beagle.
